Marketing for..a Country?!

We had an exciting meeting last week and met some insightful people. On Thursday, we hosted an engagement with three officials from a Western African country: the minister of food and agriculture, a representative of the embassy, and the CEO of one of the country’s major agricultural companies.

You’re probably wondering - why did they choose to contact you? Well, we work with a client that has interests in the same country, so they graciously passed along our name. During the meeting, the officials expressed that they had a particular interest in our ability to tell stories through visual media, a common theme in our recent blog posts. A large number of the country’s citizens are either illiterate or know only the local language, so our graphic design expertise appealed to them as a potential solution.

Basically, the agricultural executives were present because they were looking for ways to better feed and educate their citizens. We may be working with them in the near future to present new initiatives related to various farming, processing, and distribution methods and needs. We think it’s really cool that a client of this magnitude reached out to us, and we hope our services will be of help, especially since it backs up such a great cause.

In conclusion, we wanted to share this piece of news with you because the meeting really had us thinking about communication, in many different ways. We were thinking about cultural communication differences pre-meeting, and if this could cause a barrier. With that, we thought about body language and the huge role that plays in communication. We thought about the boundaries the country had in their own communication when they were explaining their problem. We thought of the different forms of communication – our main service to them would be one without words.

Everything in marketing ties back to communication in some way– how one communicates and by what means – and this engagement truly reinforced its importance.
